What We Collect

Anonymous usage statistics

Both solarexplorer.co and app.solarexplorer.co use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data. This includes:

Pages and systems visited
Approximate country (not city or address)
Device type and browser
How you arrived at the site (e.g. from LinkedIn or a direct link)

No personal information is collected. No cookies are written by the simulator. The landing page (solarexplorer.co) uses a cookie consent banner — analytics cookies are only set if you accept.

Your preferences

The simulator stores your preferences locally in your browser (localStorage) — things like your last visited system, volume setting, and saved orbital presets. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

What We Don't Collect

No name, email, or contact information
No account or login
No payment information (donations are processed by Stripe — see their privacy policy)
No location beyond approximate country
No advertising or tracking cookies on the simulator

Third-Party Services

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 with anonymized IP addresses. Google may process data according to their own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Stripe

Donations are processed by Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy applies to any payment information you provide. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Cloudflare

The simulator is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes network requests as part of hosting. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Your Choices

On solarexplorer.co: decline analytics cookies when prompted
On app.solarexplorer.co: no cookies are used regardless
Clear localStorage at any time in your browser settings to remove saved preferences
Opt out of Google Analytics globally at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
